THE TOWN OF BRIGHTON AWARDED $1.2 MILLION GRANT FROM SENATOR JEREMY COONEY & ASSEMBLY MEMBER SARAH CLARKTown Board Officials with Assembly Member Clark and Senator Cooney

The Town of Brighton announced a $1.2 million grant from Senator Jeremy Cooney and Assemblymember Sarah Clark, today, Monday, September 9 at 2 p.m. in the Brighton Town Hall at 2300 Elmwood Ave.

Thanks to support from Senator Jeremy Cooney and Assemblymember Sarah Clark, the community pool at Brighton Town Hall will be renovated and will remain open, Supervisor Bill Moehle announced today. In addition, Supervisor Moehle announced that the Town will replace the existing playground adjacent to the pool with a new and more accessible playground as part of the Town’s ongoing playground renovation program, and will also install a new splash pad to complete the recreational and aquatic amenities on the Town Hall campus. All of these recreation improvements will be made possible by $1.2 million in grant funding provided by Senator Cooney and Assemblymember Clark.

“We heard the residents of Brighton loud and clear that the Town Hall pool is an important community resource,” said Moehle. “Now, thanks to Senator Cooney and Assemblymember Clark, the pool will be the centerpiece of the enhanced recreation facilities here at Town Hall that will provide recreational opportunities for children of all ages and abilities and their families.”

“Today is a very exciting day here in Brighton. As a mom to three teenage swimmers and competitive swimmer myself, I know how important pool access is to the community for many reasons, including swim safety, recreation, and keeping cool. For decades, this pool has served as an affordable summertime option for so many, and I am proud to have secured funds to ensure that it remains an option for years to come. The exciting addition of a new splash pad and more accessible playground expands the Brighton town campus recreation possibilities to include more families and residents,” said Assemblymember Clark.
